Summer thunderstorms are not uncommon in the mountains, but 2003 has produced some of the weirdest weather I have experienced. Several inches of rain pouring down in short periods has created havoc with many of the fire scarred areas on the Kern Plateau. The Sequoia National Forest recorded over 600 lightning strikes on Thursday August 21st during one of these storms. BUT, remember there is no such thing as global warming or the extreme weather such a trend produces. All photos by Alison Sheehey © Nature Ali All rights reserved. Email |
